Data Base Monaco

Data Base Monaco

home page

1. Presentation of the project

The aim of this project is to design an automatic monetary system for two barracks of the firehouse of Monaco : « La Condamine » and « Fontvieille ». On the two sites, there are five sell-points : 2 « Foyers », the « MESS » (Foyer for the officers only), the « Popote » and the rental of apartments inside the barracks. The conception of this system will be executed by us, EPUNSA's students within the framework of our 2nd year's project. Our tutors are M.°Lancelin, fireman and informatician, and M.Millon, teacher in the EPUNSA.

2. Object and Technical description

The object of this project is double. On the one hand, we will create an informatical tool for the administration of the five different sell-points. This tool permits the accountant to save the time of selling, print the receipt, manage the stocks, and print the financial report forms. On the other hand, we will use IC cards to create an identification system, the identification cards will avoid the exchange of cash.

3. General operation

3.1. Identification of the users / administrators:

When a user / administrator wants to connect, he must enter his login and password. Then he is identified and logged.

3.2. Users tools

Every seller can choose the client's name, list of merchandises the client buys, and eventually he can add comments. He can also display and print a daily list of stocks.

3.3. Administrators tools

The administrators can modify the schedule of sellers, the clients' accounts, the merchandises, and check the history of stocks, clients' accounts.

4. Data Base

4.1. What is a Data Base

A data base may be defined as a collection of interrelated data stored together without harmful or unnecessary redundancy to serve multiple applications; the data are stored so that they are independent of programs which use the data; a common is used in adding new data and in modifying and retrieving existing data within the data base. The data is structured so as to provide a foundation for future application development. One system is said to contain a collection of data bases if they are entirely separate in structure.

4.2. Why we use it

We will have to use a Data Base in order to save the clients' accounts, the merchandises' caracteristics, and so on... Our software will permit the administrators to save informations into the Data Base, to modify and delete them. It will also permit the sellers to enter the informations easily and quickly: every marchandise will be referenced.

5. Windev 10

We will use the software "Windev 10" to realize our Data Base, because it is the environment M. Lancelin uses for developing software: this way, he can follow and check our work and sometimes give us advices. Windev is a developing environment. It is a remarkable tool for reducing costs and development times while improving features, performance and reliability. It permits good results with smaller investments. Windev 10 comes standard, with these modules: UML and Merise data model editor, RAD, Documentation generator,... Which are very useful.

6. Conclusion

6.1. What we have done

We have chosen the hardware for the identification cards: we will use RFID cards and readers/writers. We have also thought about the Data Base structure. We are actually learning how to use Windev10.

6.2. What we still have to do

From now on we will spend two more weeks on learning how to use Windev10. Then we will have to create the software that the firemen will use. We will also create the communication interface between the identification cards and the software. Finally, we will have to make tests and to optimize the monetary system.system.
